Man Arrested for Threatening Deputies, Police Dog During DUI Arrest

Monroe County, FL - A 67-year-old man was arrested after authorities say he threatened to rape and kill sheriff's deputies, their family members, and a police dog during his arrest for driving under the influence.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, Walter Frank Camp faces charges of DUI, grand theft of a motor vehicle, multiple counts of threatening law enforcement officers and their families, harassing a law enforcement K9, possession of marijuana, indecent exposure, and resisting arrest.

Authorities say Camp was observed exceeding the speed limit and making illegal passes while driving a Kia SUV shortly after 5:30 p.m. on U.S. 1 near Mile Marker 32 on Big Pine Key.

While conducting a traffic stop, deputies discovered an open Bud Light can in the vehicle and noticed an odor of marijuana coming from Camp's car.

Camp, who appeared to be under the influence, was detained.

An investigation into the Kia revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen in Blaine, Washington.

During a search of the vehicle, deputies found 51 grams of marijuana edibles, which Camp claimed to be "medicinal" and legal.

Camp's arrest report states that moments before his apprehension, he pulled down his shorts by the side of U.S. 1 and exposed himself to other drivers in the vicinity.

As he was being detained, Camp revealed that he was a "mercenary" who took care of "bad people," before telling the deputy to "go home and kiss my wife because I was already dead."

He also declared his intention to track down the deputy's children's school and "be there waiting."

Camp repeatedly made statements that involved sodomizing and murdering the deputy's K9 dog, telling the deputy that he would engage in inappropriate acts with the dog and force it to engage in a similar manner, before howling loudly as if he were a dog.

Camp told deputies he had access to weapons, such as a "sniper rifle," and reiterated his intention to kill the arresting deputies and their family members.

During his transportation to jail, Camp made approximately 300 statements about killing and assaulting the arresting deputy and his wife and children.

His bond has been set at $72,500.
