Resources from South Florida are already on the ground, waiting to help people who will be affected by Hurricane Idalia.

The American Red Cross of Palm Beach County has sent ten people to Tallahassee.

"So, the Red Cross has been preparing for this storm for several days now. In fact, we work through the weekend to make sure that we had all of our equipment. All of our supplies are in the right place, and also our volunteers."

Executive Director Eric Roby tells CBS 12 News that the nonprofit has enough tractor-trailers moved into the area with the supplies to be able to house at least 12,000 people.

"We don't expect to have to do that. But we wanted to make sure if that was the need were ready to go."

Meanwhile Florida Power and Light, which is headquartered in Palm Beach County, has opened up its command center.
