Idalia serves as a reminder for all Floridians that you can never be too prepared for a storm and the second Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday of the year is underway.

A majority of items on your hurricane supplies list are exempt from sales tax through Friday September 8th.

CBS 12 News found homeowners like Bob Hosier at a Home Depot in West Palm Beach. He's lived through some hurricanes on the east coast of the state and has some recommendations...

"You don't have to go crazy and get a big generator, but a small generator. I think back to when we had the big storm come through in the early 2000's. We were out of power for a week. It was like a nightmare."

Also included in this holiday, pet food and supplies, soaps and detergents and things like toilet paper.

Keep in mind that there are price parameters in place, for instance generators must be priced up to $3,000.
