Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach County students will be able to take AP Psychology Courses in the coming school year despite the wrangling over the content.
Miami-Dade Schools Superintendent Dr. Jose Dotres says the course material will not be changed at all.
Broward Schools Superintendent Dr. Peter Licata says parents will need to sign a permission slip for their kids to attend AP Psychology. The course will be considered an elective.
Fedrick Ingram with American Federation of Teachers says all this maneuvering is unfortunate...
"It is a Band-Aid on a bigger problem. The bigger problem is our folks have to vote people in office who care about public schools, " Ingram said.
Florida's Parental Rights in Education Law prohibits instruction on sexual orientation and gender identity -- key components of the AP Psychology course.
