(Delray Beach, Fla) -- Police have made an arrest in the murder of a woman whose body parts were found inside three suitcases pulled from different areas of the Intracoastal Waterway in Delray Beach.

78-year-old William Lowe was arrested on charges of first-degree murder and abusing a corpse in the killing of 80-year-old Aydil Barbosa Fontes, his wife of 15-years.

Detective Mike Liberta says witnesses, surveillance video helped to identify the suspect's car and eventually his identity.

After executing a search warrant on Lowe's apartment, Delray Beach detectives found a large amount of blood in the living and dining rooms also in the bathroom drains. Police say they also found drag marks throughout the residence, blood splatter, a chainsaw, and cleaning supplies.

The medical examiner determined Fontes was first shot in the head then dismembered. Lowe, a purple heart recipient, appeared in court this morning and was denied bond.
