Woman Arrested for Drug Smuggling at DeSoto Correctional Institution

Jacksonville, FL - A woman was arrested on Sunday after she was caught attempting to smuggle narcotics into a Florida correctional institute.

According to police, 27-year-old Shameka Yvonne Foster, of Jacksonville, was apprehended on Sunday for attempting to smuggle narcotics into the DeSoto Correctional Institution.

During a routine pat-down search conducted by the DeSoto County Sheriff's Office, deputies discovered Foster's illicit activity, leading to her arrest and transfer to DeSoto County Jail.

Foster is facing charges of smuggling contraband into a correctional institute, trafficking cocaine, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, possession of harmful new legend drugs, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
