Sargassum Solution Contest In Miami-Dade

Miami-Dade Innovation Authority offering one-hundred-thousand-dollars to three start-up tech companies that can figure out the best sustainable solutions for the sargassum hauled off South Florida beaches. North Miami City Councilman Scott Galvin says this year's bloom is the worst it has been in a decade.The county wants companies to come up with environmentally friendly ways to get rid of all the seaweed that's currently picked off beaches and trucked to a county facility to dry and shrink before going to the landfill. The deadline to submit proposals is September 29th.
