The City of West Palm Beach is moving closer to banning future medical marijuana dispensaries.

There are already nine located within city limits and Commissioner Christy Fox plans to vote in favor of a proposed ordinance to keep those in place but not allow any new ones.

"I do support the idea of people that need this treatment to able to access it," but she says she doesn't think "we have to have medical marijuana on every corner."

One of the fears of city leaders is what may happen if a constitutional amendment for recreational marijuana in Florida gets on next year's ballot and is approved by voters.

Commissioner Joe Peduzzi during Monday's meeting, said he doesn't want West Palm Beach to be where everyone goes to get their marijuana.

A final vote on the ordinance will be taken on July 10th.
