Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw tells us more about an event he attended earlier this week in Jupiter.
Senator Rick Scott paid a visit to a County Fire Rescue station at Abacoa as part of his hurricane preparedness tour.
The sheriff says the message from him, Scott, emergency managers and local elected officials was all uniform.
"Make sure you're ready, don't wait until the last minute, we're prepared ready to go so you can feel safe out here."
Speaking with us, he shares more information on what PBSO will do pre-storm, during a storm and after a storm this season.
"Months ago we started making sure that all of our high-water vehicles were ready, all of our water rescue vehicles, all of our supplies...everything that we need to sustain ourselves out here during and after the hurricane, we're ready to go without a doubt."
Bradshaw says the pre-storm prep varies depending on whether any local municipalities request assistance with potential evacuations. He urges residents to pay attention to what local officials say and heed their warnings.
During the storm, the work includes being available to assist fire rescue if needed.
The agency will then be available after a storm to help clean up streets and assist with traffic situations that may arise, depending on the severity of a potential hurricane.
