Fort Myers, FL - A man has been arrested for DUI after colliding with a tractor-trailer in Southwest Florida, causing both vehicles to burst into flames.

Fort Myers Police arrested 64-year-old Martin John Bourgeois for driving under the influence after his SUV collided with a tractor-trailer on Sunday night, causing both vehicles to burst into flames.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Sunday's accident occurred when Bourgeois was driving east on Alico Road in the right turn lane, before driving into the path of a semi-truck driving on the outside lane of the same road.

The left side of Bourgeois's SUV smashed into the right side of the tractor-trailer, causing both the SUV and the tractor-trailer to catch fire.

Both drivers were able to safely escape their vehicles before the flames engulfed them.

Emergency crews arrived shortly after the accident to put out the fire.

Investigators arrested Bourgeois for DUI.

His blood alcohol level was .102, which is higher than the legal limit of .08 in Florida.

Bourgeois was booked into the Lee County Jail.
