Osceola County, FL - A baseball coach at a Florida high school has been arrested on charges of sexual misconduct with students.
According to authorities, Samuel Enrique Figueroa, a baseball coach at Celebration High School, has been arrested by Osceola County deputies on allegations of sexual misconduct with at least two students.
Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez described the accusations against the coach as an "abuse of power" during a news conference following Figueroa's arrest.
According to Sheriff Lopez, Figueroa, 43, worked full-time in student services at Celebration High School.
Several teenage girls came forward to report Figueroa's alleged sexual harassment against them, resulting in a lengthy investigation by the sheriff's office.
During the news conference, Sheriff Lopez detailed the accusations against Figueroa, stating that two teenage girls have accused him of touching them in a sexual manner.
Investigators also spoke with several other female juvenile victims, ranging in ages from 15 to 18 years old, and encouraged anyone who may have had similar encounters with Figueroa to come forward.
"In one case, he instructed a student to go into the girls' bathroom and take pictures of her breasts and send him these pictures. In other cases, he made vulgar sexual remarks regarding how several students looked and how their bodies get him sexually aroused. Unfortunately, it didn't just stop there with his sick comments," Sheriff Lopez said.
Figueroa faces multiple charges including lewd and lascivious molestation, lewd and lascivious conduct, sexual performance by a child, unlawful use of a two-way communication device, offenses against students by authority figures, and indecent, lewd, or lascivious touching of certain minors, as stated in a pamphlet.
Authorities are urging anyone with information or who may have been a victim of Figueroa's misconduct to come forward and cooperate with the investigation.
