Easter is a week from Sunday, but you don't have to wait to enjoy a little Easter fun with your family in Palm Springs.

Police Chief Tom Ceccarelli tells us there is an event on Saturday.

"We're going to do an 'Easter Eggstravaganza.' It's like an Easter egg hunt for the kids, there'll be prizes."

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon in the Village Center Complex off Dolan Road and the chief says it will be a great opportunity for residents to meet their neighbors and meet the cops who are patrolling their neighborhoods.

"Unfortunately a lot of times they meet officers at the worst times, they're either a victim of a crime or they're getting pulled over for a traffic offense. So, it's a good opportunity to meet in a positive climate, put a face with the department and see that we have a friendly side to us and we want to be part of the community and we want people to trust us and feel that they can call us whenever they need us."
