It's Story nightclub vs. the city of Miami Beach in court Tuesday over an ordinance forcing Story to stop selling alcohol at 2 a.m. City Commissioner Alex Fernandez says the ordinance moves last call up from 5 a.m. in the South of Fifth neighborhood after residents complained about the noise and late-night parties. Attorneys for the nightclub say it's being illegally targeted in a perfect example of "city government run amok" Miami Beach's previous tries to impose a 2 a.m. liquor curfew in other parts of South Beach have been shot down by judges ruling an alcohol restriction is "arbitrary" and targets certain businesses.
