Police have identified a woman killed when her car was struck by a train in West Palm Beach this week.

76-year old Harreen Bertisch was the wife of Robert Bertisch, the executive director of the Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County. She also worked for the nonprofit.

Cops say Bertisch had stopped on the tracks in the downtown area Wednesday night as the freight train was oncoming. Investigators confirm that the gates and warning signals were working properly, and the train's engineer applied the emergency brakes.

The Palm Beach County Bar Association took to Facebook to note that their hearts are with the woman's family and that they will post funeral information when it's available.
