Attorney General announces new tools to combat human trafficking in Florida

Attorney General Ashley Moody has announced a new initiative to fight human trafficking in Florida. The 100 Percent Club campaign will recognize businesses that pledge to train 100-percent of their workers on how to spot and report suspected human trafficking safely and effectively.

"This initiative came about," Moody said, "when we had businesses seeking out how they can help in this fight against human trafficking."

Businesses include the fields of transportation, hospitality and tourism. Florida has the 3rd most reported cases of human trafficking in the country.

"Large events that happen in Florida attract those that want to traffic other human beings for profit. It's appalling. It will not be tolerated."

Moody says quick-reference alert cards will be distributed which include the physical and verbal signs of human trafficking and the number to call in the state of Florida to report human trafficking: 1-800-342-0820.
