Miami mom hallucinates, lights house on fire with husband and son inside

A Miami woman has been arrested after being accused of setting a home on fire while her husband and son were inside.

Officers arrested Tamika Amanda Dorsett on Monday after the 36-year-old woman lit a home on fire in Miami’s Little Haiti neighborhood.

According to police, the South Florida woman poured lighter fluid on the home’s floor while hallucinating.

Dorsett’s husband told police he was sleeping on the couch on the first floor of the home when his wife woke him up and told him the neighbor’s kids were inside and she needed them out.

The woman then lit the home on fire, while the couple’s 9-year-old son and two others were on the second floor.

No one was injured; Dorset’s husband made sure to get everyone out of the house before firefighters arrived.

Miami firefighters later determined the home wasn’t safe to live in after the fire.

Dorsett is facing charges of first-degree arson, child abuse with no great bodily harm, and three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

She remained at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on Tuesday night.
