Miami Commissioners To Discuss 19-Million-Dollar Budget Crunch

Miami Commissioners holding a virtual meeting this morning to discuss the mid year budget that's 19-million in the red, thanks to the coronavirus pandemic. Commissioner Ken Russell says they're discussing implementing a citywide hiring freeze, postponing asphalt repairs at Miami Marine Stadium and delaying a quarter-million-dollar upgrade to the city's technology systems to make up for losses. He says the delays will ensure there will be no layoffs or furloughs for workers. Commissioners must approve the proposed budget amendment this week before it takes effect.
