Florida enters this week having had the fewest population-adjusted COVID-19 cases in the country for a fourth consecutive week. Additionally, Florida averaged 1,497 new daily cases over the past week Furthermore, hospitalizations for COVID-19 continue to decline. There are now 1,439 people hospitalized with the virus, 30 fewer than the prior day and the lowest since the winter surge. 

In other news, Florida’s Special State Legislative Session kicks off today in Tallahassee. Four bills are specifically set to be considered. They're the Reject COVID-19 Vaccine Mandates, Protect Private Health Care and Religious Information, Begin Withdrawing From OSHA, and Remove Authority of State Heath Officer to Order Vaccinations. 

Lastly, Disney’s mass relocation of 2,000 employees from Southern California to Florida has begun. The plan announced in July to relocate thousands of employees to Orlando was due to “Florida’s business-friendly climate”. The Burbank-based company is facilitating the relocation of the eligible employees and their families as part of the plan to make Florida, as opposed to California, the hub of operations going forward.
