Broward School Board: Some Students May Opt-Out of Mask Wearing

A special school board meeting today in Broward County allowed the board to hammer out some important issues. The board voting 5 to 3 to implement a hybrid mask policy, but board chair Dr. Rosalind Osgood says the item will be put back on the agenda should positivity rates change.

Dr. Osgood says high school students can lose the masks, but they are encouraged to continue wearing them. Elementary and middle school students are still required to wear a mask on campus.

The school board also voted to make required changes to interim Superintendent Dr. Vickie Cartwright's contract to enable her to apply for the permanent position.
