New Parent University Webinar To Address Social Media Threats In Broward

The dangers of social media in the spotlight at tonight's new Parent University Webinar in Broward after a number of threats lead to a beefed up police presence at several schools. How best to detect threats and talk to your children about them --the main topics being discussed tonight. Interim Superintendent Dr. Vickie Cartwright says parents need to know a student who shares or simply likes a threat can face the same consequences as the person writing the original message. Social media threats were reported against Dillard High, Stranahan High and William Dandy Middle schools last week alone and last month three Broward students were arrested in a 2-day span for incidents at schools in Pembroke Pines and Miramar.
