Florida’s COVID-19 trend improved on Tuesday with 3,598 new COVID-19 cases. The total was over 1,500 fewer than the prior week, dropping the weekly trend to 4,404 daily cases. As for hospitalizations, they have dropped to 4,307 statewide, that's a decline of 255 patients over the past day.

Florida Education Commissioner Richard Corcoran has issued a recommendation to the Florida Board of Education that would continue to sanction the Alachua and Broward Schools Districts by withholding funding equal to the salaries of board members who’ve voted to impose school mask mandates in violation of state law. Additionally, the commissioner is recommending additional funds, equal to the amounts provided by the federal government, be withheld to ensure the federal government isn’t effectively circumventing Florida law. Other offending school districts including Miami-Dade and Palm Beach could face similar outcomes once the current procedural appeal processes have run their course.

Lastly, in advance of January’s 2022 legislative session, the redistricting process in Florida has begun. Based on the 2020 Census, Florida’s set to gain an additional Congressional seat. A new map will be constructed for consideration during the upcoming state session.
