There were 5,056 new COVID-19 cases reported in Florida on Tuesday. Florida’s trend for new cases continues to improve. Furthermore, there were 228 fewer Floridians hospitalized with COVID-19, now 6,138 hospitalizations remain statewide, the lowest since July 20th.

Florida Attorney General Ashely Moody announced a lawsuit against the Biden administration over its “catch and release” immigration program. My analysis of ICE records under the Biden administration has revealed 92.3% of migrants released into the US interior with a notice to appear are later determined to be unlawfully in the country. Florida currently pays over $100 million per year for the cost of incarceration alone for illegal immigrants.

Subsequent to the lawsuit, Governor DeSantis ordered all Florida law enforcement agencies to do "except as otherwise required by federal or state law, no Executive Agency under the direction of the Governor shall provide support or resources to, or in any way assist, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, or any other federal department or agency, federal contractor, or non-governmental organization, in transporting to the State of Florida any aliens apprehended at the Southwest Border. Detain any aircraft, bus, or vehicles that are transporting migrants into the state from the Southwest Border under state and federal law. It is necessary to collect additional data and information on illegal aliens who have resettled in Florida from the Southwest Border, the illegal alien population in Florida generally, and the impact of illegal immigration on the health, safety, welfare, and prosperity of Floridians
