Florida posted its second straight day below 20,000 COVID-19 cases on Tuesday as 18,608 new cases were reported. That dropped the weekly trend to the lowest level since August 11th. COVID-19 hospitalizations declined by 101 patients in Florida on Tuesday leaving 15,387 Floridians hospitalized with the virus. Hospitalizations have now declined for seven consecutive days.

The man behind the alleged attempted $25 million extortion of Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz’s family has been charged by a grand jury. Stephen Alford was found by the grand jury to have made demands of the family, including an attempted pardon by then President Trump. Gaetz has stated that allegations he had a relationship with a minor were brought about by Alford after his family refused to comply with his attempted extortion.

Lastly, Elon Musk’s Boring Company is close to an agreement to create a 2.5-mile tunnel from Las Olas to the beach. The project which is called the Las Olas Loop was approved by city commissioners in July. A window was open through August for competing bids, of which there weren’t any, so now the Boring Company and city officials are free to move ahead to complete a deal.
