Broward Mayor: "We Are Out Of Control" When It Comes To COVID

Out of control, that's how Broward's Mayor describes the COVID situation in the county.

"All of the numbers are bad. We have been continuing to set record in both new cases and in hospitalizations," says Steve Geller.

He says the highest percentage of people getting sick now are teens. That's one reason why he supports the school district's decision to mandate student mask use with just medical exemptions.

On a positive note, nearly all of Broward's seniors have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine, and 64% of 12 and older are now fully vaccinated.

Geller stresses the best way to avoid another shutdown is by wearing masks and getting vaccinated.
