Fred Again a Tropical Storm Over the Gulf, Warnings for Florida Panhandle

The remnants of Tropical Storm Fred have redeveloped into a tropical storm in the Gulf of Mexico. The system is about 335 miles south southeast of Pensacola with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph.

A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for portions of the north-central Gulf Coast from the Alabama/Florida border eastward to Ochlockonee River, Florida.

Isolated tornadoes for the Florida peninsula are forecasted today along with dangerous surf conditions.

Meantime, hurricane forecasters are also watching Tropical Storm Grace, which remains disorganized and about 85 miles south of San Juan, Puerto Rico. Grace is moving more slowly across the eastern Caribbean at 16 miles per hour but could bring heavy rains and mudslides to Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and Haiti, which suffered a magnitude seven earthquake early Saturday morning.
