The Florida Department of Health reported 1,234 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday and the weekly trend for daily cases is the lowest since June 14th of last year.
Nearly 10.4 million Floridians, including approximately 56% of adults, are now vaccinated with at least a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. And, 8.35 million people completed a vaccine series.
In related Coronavirus news, hospitalizations in Florida are now at the lowest they’ve been since May of 2020. As of Wednesday, 1,842 Floridians were hospitalized due to COVID-19, a total that’s declined by 38% over the past month mirroring Florida’s significant decrease in cases since the mid-April peak.
In other news, Governor DeSantis signed Florida’s record budget into law. Totaling $101.5 billion, in part due to federal Cares Act funding, DeSantis vetoed over $1.5 billion dollars from the budget including numerous South Florida projects identified by Florida TaxWatch as “Budget Turkeys”.
