Florida’s weekly trend for new COVID-19 cases improved for a 2nd straight day as the Florida Department of Health reported 5,571 new cases, which's the best since April 12th.
In related news, over 8.2 million Floridians have been vaccinated with at least a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. This includes over 5.3 million who’ve now completed the vaccine series or a quarter of Florida’s total population.
The approximate 26,000 Broward School District files released as part of a ransomware attack don’t appear to include information that compromises the identity of students or parents. Most of the documents appear to be internal documents regarding operations. The ransomware attack follows a January arrest of the School District’s Chief Information Officer for bid-rigging of a technology contract for a friend, Superintendent Robert Runcie for perjury, and General Counselor for the District, Barbara Myrick, for unlawful disclosure of grand jury proceedings.
Alaska has joined Florida’s lawsuit against the CDC for their “no sail” order preventing cruise operations in the United States. In a statement, Alaska’s governor Mike Dunleavy said, "Cruise ships have demonstrated their ability to provide for the safety of passengers and crew and We need to fight (the CDC’s shuttering of the industry) this on all fronts".
