Florida had its seconnd lowest day for new COVID-19 cases in nearly three months on Monday. According to the Florida Department of Health, there were 5,737 new cases reported. The weekly average for cases has now dropped to the lowest level since December 1st.

More than 2 million COVID vaccinations have taken place in Florida. As of Monday’s report just over 1.32 million first doses have been administered with 693,865 Floridians having completed the two-dose schedule. However, fewer than 7,300 vaccinations took place on Sunday including 1,637 first doses. That’s the lowest daily total of vaccinations since the statewide rollout of the vaccination program.

However, a reported one million doses of vaccine are expected to be received by Sam’s and Wal-Mart pharmacies. According to the new Federal retail Pharmacy Program, the shipments will arrive at the pharmacies starting Thursday and are in addition to the existing shipments of vaccines received by the state.

One of the most prominent companies already operating in Florida, could be poised to relocate more of its operations here. Disney officials are evaluating moving additional divisions and resources to Florida from California based on California’s high taxes and restrictive policies during the pandemic. Disney’s CEO Bob Chapek has called California’s COVID policy “arbitrary”.
