FHP Trooper On Leave After Police-Involved Shooting In Delray Beach

A Florida Highway Patrol trooper is on administrative leave pending an investigation of a police-involved shooting in Delray Beach.

The particulars of the incident Tuesday evening along Atlantic Avenue, just off I-95 have not been confirmed, but CBS 12 is citing sources that say a man being pulled over by a state trooper opened fire on the trooper, who fired back and killed the man.

Neither the identity of the man nor the trooper has been released.

A statement from the Florida Highway Patrol states only that the trooper has been placed on "non-disciplinary administrative leave, per FHP policy."

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement has taken over the investigation.

The incident had Atlantic Avenue shut down for several hours.
