New Apple Watch Feature Encourages Hand Washing

As if your iPhone doesn't know enough about you, now your Apple Watch will make sure you wash your hands well.

Your watch can listen for the sound of running water and measure the motion of your hands. The watch will feature a 20-second countdown timer to make sure you do a thorough washing.

The feature is expected to launch with WatchOS7, the new Apple Watch operating system that will be released later this year.

According to a CNBC report, Apple wants to get more entrenched in the medical sector. If it does, some big hospital companies might subsidize the watch for its workers.

The report also says Apple is "updating its popular emoji feature, which lets you create a customized emoji that looks like you, with an option to sport a face covering. The CDC recommends that people use face coverings to prevent the spread of the virus."
