Catholic Church to Consider Married Priests

A big meeting at the Vatican takes place next month, where the pope and church leaders will discuss the idea of allowing married men to be ordained as priests.

The idea is to allow "men of virtue" to serve as priests in remote areas where the church has a small presence. The men would be allowed to deliver sacraments of baptism, confession, weddings, and funerals.

The idea surfaced two years ago because of the difficulties in expanding the Catholic faith into the Amazon.

Not all priests are on board with the idea. American Cardinal Raymond Burke leads some traditionalists who are prepared to call for the resignation of Pope Francis is the proposal gains traction.
