Mayor Gimenez was in Tallahassee this week where, despite his protests, versions of the bills passed in committee....but he did win some concessions.
The mayor wants to eliminate MDX too, but he wants to create a new toll authority that could cut tolls and still provide enough money for projects like the expressway into West Kendall. He also would like to lower tolls and put elected leaders in charge who can be held accountable.
There are competing versions of the legislation that need to be reconciled before it can pass.
