Miami surgeon, Dr. Christopher Salgado, known for his gender reassignment work lost his job for posting on Instagram explicit images of patient's body parts.
The @sexsurgeon account is now deleted but dates back to October 2018. In one photo, posted on Valentine’s Day, Salgado rearranged a patient’s severed penis into a heart shape, tagging it “#whatthefuc%isthat."
Salgado, who appeared on an episode of TLC’s I Am Jazz, provided a gender reassignment surgery consultation to the network's star, Jazz Jenning.
Advocates within the LGBTQ+ community were upset with the doctor for releasing surgical pictures. A barrage of complaints and emails were then sent to the University of Miami Health System including a 500-signature petition requesting the doctor to be held accountable.
They responded by ending Salgado’s employment within two days and said, “we can confirm that Dr. Christopher Salgado is no longer employed here, our team of experts will continue providing the full continuum of care for gender reassignment patients.”
