Broward School Board Hires New Security Chief

The Broward School Board hired a new security chief on Tuesday after a two hour meeting. 

Brian Katz’s newly created job will oversee safety efforts, police services, emergency preparations and risk management.The School Board voted 7 to 1 to hire him. Katz’s background includes providing business security for the marijuana industry and investigating employees who divulged secrets at Google.Kat’z also spent 2-years working for U.S. Investigation Services, a company hired by the federal government.He currently resides in Ft. Lauderdale and said he grew up in Broward County
