The Federal Aviation Administration is reporting Conquest Air 504 landed in the water about 20 miles southeast of Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport. It was heading to Opa Locka from Lynden Pindling International Airport in Nassau, Bahamas. It is a Convair aircraft which is twin engine propeller plane.
Preliminary indications are that two people were on board at the time.
Coast Guard crews were able to rescue one person. They are currently searching the waters for a second passenger presumed on the aircraft.
First responders are in the water off Bay Harbor Islands after a small plane goes down about 13 miles offshore. The F-A-A is calling this a 'landing' in the water. Chopper video shows the plane's wing floating in the water, as coast guard helicopters fly above. No word on how many people may have been on board, although one person was pulled from the water by the Coast Guard. No what caused the Convair plane to go down.
