Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried announced Wednesday, Holly Bell, will be Florida’s first Director of Cannabis. Bell will oversee the state’s involvement in the medical marijuana program, direct rule-making for edibles and patient advocacy.
“My role in Florida will be to understand needs, find solutions, do a lot of research and keep progress moving forward along with the commissioner’s vision,” said Bell.
Nikki Fried said during a press conference, “the stakes are really high in our state to get this right, Holly’s knowledge and understanding of startups and experience bringing people together to implement a vision makes her a bold and bright choice to build a future of cannabis here in the state of Florida.”
The new director, former Nashville banker, will make $110,000 per year.
