Rubio Calls Government Shutdown "Dumb"

Senator Marco Rubio is no fan of the government shutdown.

In fact, he calls the tactic "dumb" and ineffective.

While reflecting on the past year at Florida International University, Rubio said he's been through four government shutdowns and says the people who insisted on them never achieved their goals.

Rubio said there are "no winners" in this partial closure of the government, but plenty of "losers."

Rubio said he's concerned about the 800,000 federal workers who are caught in the middle of the standoff and are furloughed or working without pay.

The government is shut down over President Trump's demands for an additional $5.7B for border security.

Rubio says that funding would pay for more than just a wall and is a good investment in national security.
