Gov. Rick Scott To Make "Major Everglades Restoration Announcement"

Ahead of the general election on Nov. 6 in Florida, Gov. Rick Scott is scheduled "to make a major Everglades restoration announcement."

That's how the governor's office described Tuesday morning's scheduled news conference.

Scott has been criticized by environmental groups for his lack of response to the increasing algae blooms polluting the St. Lucie and Caloosahatchee rivers.

But his campaign claims Scott is committed to Everglades restoration, pointing out that the Legislature invested more than $1.8 billion on the "River of Grass."

Scott is campaigning to win U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson's seat.
