Price Gouging Hotline Opens For Floridians In The Path Of Hurricane Michael

With Michael taking aim at Florida's Panhandle and Big Bend, the Sunshine State's price gouging hotline is now activated for consumers in those areas.

Attorney General Pam Bondi opened the hotline on Sunday night after Governor Rick Scott declared a state of emergency for 26 counties.

State law prohibits extreme increases in the price of essential commodities, such as food, water, hotels, ice, gasoline, lumber and equipment, needed as a direct result of an officially declared emergency.

Anyone who suspects price gouging is urged to report it by calling 866-9NO-SCAM.
