You Can See Hurricane Florence's Impact At South Florida Airports

As Hurricane Florence approaches the Carolinas, travelers in South Florida are feeling its effects in the form of delayed and canceled flights.

Travelers across the nation are now working diligently to change their travel plans as Florence heads to the East Coast.

Some have left earlier than anticipated while others are staying later than expected.

Evacuees from the Carolinas have also been arriving at MIA and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

For residents of the Carolinas, getting back home could take a while. Although only a few flights from South Florida have been canceled, as the storm moves closer, travelers should expect many more to and from the central East Coast.

FLL reported two cancellations and 24 delays related to the weather Wednesday. However, nearly 1,000 flights have been canceled across the country.

Officials said they closed the runways at Charleston International Airport in South Carolina at 11:50 p.m. Wednesday. They do not expect to resume operations until Friday.

If you have any flight plans coming up to the East Coast, it’s advised you call your carrier before going to the airport.

Some airlines like Allegiant, JetBlue, United Airlines and American Airlines have lowered prices and are allowing changes at no cost because of the storm.
