Fed Judge Blocks Release Of Docs Related To FIU Bridge Collapse

A federal judge has intervened, blocking Thursday's scheduled release of Department of Transportation (DOT) documents related to the collapse of the pedestrian bridge at Florida International University.

The U.S. Attorney's Office, acting on behalf of the NTSB, said a federal judge should review the "Miami Herald" request to access records that show large cracks were discovered in the bridge days before its collapse.

On Tuesday, a state judge ordered the Department of Transportation to release the documents, but now the case is moving to federal court.

The papers could explain why Tamiami Trail wasn't closed before the 950-ton bridge collapsed on March 15th, killing six people.
