Funeral Being Held For SoFla Officers Shot, Killed In The Line Of Duty

Law enforcement members from across Florida and all the way up the east coast will be in Fort Myers today to remember a police officer who was shot and killed in the line of duty.

The funeral for Fort Myers Police Department Ofc. Adam Jobbers-Miller will take place inside the Germain Arena in Estero at 12 p.m., following a viewing on Sunday where thousands waited outside a local funeral home throughout the evening for a chance to say their final goodbyes.

Jobbers-Miller, who was a firefighter in his home state of New Jersey before moving to Florida and joining the department in 2015, was shot in the head while trying to capture a man who allegedly stole a cell phone from a car outside a gas station on July 21st.

The 29-year-old officer died one week later as a result of his injuries.

The suspect shooter, 29-year-old Wisner Desmaret, remains behind bars.
