Could South Florida's Government Structure Be Altered?

A Friday court hearing in Tallahassee could clear the way for a constitutional amendment that would change governments in South Florida.

Amendment 10 would overrule county charters, requiring Miami-Dade to have an elected sheriff and Broward to elect a tax collector.

If the proposal does reach the November ballot, it would need at least 60-percent support to be included in the state constitution.
