A Tampa Bay detention deputy has found himself on the wrong side of the jail cell after being accused of driving drunk and slamming into poles in a McDonald's parking lot.
Authorities say that Deputy Jose Cruz's truck got lodged into a cement median early Saturday morning.
Deputies initiated a traffic stop nearby and the three-year police veteran was asked to participate in sobriety exercises where impairment was observed.
Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office deputies says breath tests showed the 31-year-old's blood alcohol level was more than two times over the legal limit.
He's suspended without pay.
