On Wednesday, the Miami-Dade School Board will vote on ballot language that would raise taxes -- which in turn, according to local authorities, would help generate higher teacher pay and increased school security funds.
Miami-Dade Superintendent Alberto Carvalho recently removed vague ballot language that his office had added to a proposed property tax referendum. The removal came after Carvalho received complaints from the school board.
The measure on the ballot would increase property taxes by about $142 per year for the typical homeowner.
