South Florida Alligator Wrestler Bitten, Hospitalized With Injuries

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials said an alligator wrestler was rushed to the hospital Monday after being bitten by a gator in the Miccosukee Indian Village.

The victim, identified as JohnKyo Osceola Jr., was taken by ground to Kendall Regional Hospital with injuries to his hands.

Authorities say he had about a dozen bite marks but no stitches were required. Osceola Jr. said he was attempting a trick at the time and that it was his first accident.

"Obviously things happen, you know, it's a wild gator, he's not tamed, trained, domesticated, sedated, he can do anything and I even say in the shows 'have your cameras ready, you never know what’s gonna happen,'" he said, according to a report by NBC 6.

Osceola said he has lots of experience wrestling gators.

The village, off U.S. 41 in the Everglades, features attractions such as alligator wrestling with tribal members.
