Florida Officers Reprimanded For Drinking During Hurricane Irma

A newly-released internal affairs report shows that some members of the “Landfall Team” in North Bay Village remained at city hall as Hurricane Irma swept through Florida -- drinking beer and talking football.

According to the records obtained by the Miami Herald , unit shift commander Lt. James McCready gave officers permission to drink.

The Herald says that the lieutenant even put a cooler on a conference room table and blocked a surveillance camera with a plastic cup.

The party allegedly continued on Sept. 9th, as calls came in and the weather worsened.

Officer Walter Sajdak walked in on the rowdy bunch after midnight and later reported what was taking place to a superior officer.

Six officers admitted to violating a policy of drinking on the job.

They have each received letters of reprimand and forfeited accrued time.
