SBA Deadline Approaches For Businesses Financially Hurt By Hurricane Irma

As we quickly approach nine months since Hurricane Irma blew through South Florida, time is nearly up to get federal government recovery help.

Small business and private, nonprofit owners have until Monday to at least start the process of applying for Small Business Administration Economic Injury Disaster Loans.

FEMA's Debra Young says, "This is not for physical damage for their businesses, if they received physical damage, that deadline was back in November. This is just for businesses who are really having economic hardship because of the disaster."

The owners can receive up to $2-million in low-interest working capital loans to cover things like payroll and debts occurred between September 4th and October 18th which could have been covered if the disaster hadn't happened.

So far, more than 1,000 of these loans worth $56-million have been approved in Florida.

Those interested in applying can click DisasterLoan.sba.gov or call the SBA's Disaster Assistance Customer Service Center at 800-659-2955.
