Marjory Stoneman Douglas High Band To Perform Special Concert

The Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Band is putting on their final concert of the year.  Organizers say the students just came off a successful jazz tour and Friday night's concert will be the classical version of that.  The event is titled "Our Reply" and the theme comes from a Leonard Bernstein quote.

"This will be our reply to violence: to make music more intensely, more beautifully, more devoted than ever before." - Leonard Bernstein

The musicians of the MSD band aren't letting the deadly shooting that shook their school stop them from continuing their music.

"The band program there has always been a top notch program and they've put out musicians and musical experiences for the students that they're extremely proud of.  I think this concert is extremely important to the students and the teachers because it's a statement of their continued work to keep doing that and to not be stopped by an atrocious event that some others might be inclined to take a break and have a pause from the music," said Craig Pugatch MSD Class of 96' and MSD National Alumni Organizer.
