Former North Miami Beach Councilman Accused Of Exploiting Position

Ethics authorities say a former North Miami Beach councilman is guilty of exploiting his public position.

Frantz Pierre has been accused of threatening to fire city employees after he received two code violations at his home in 2015.

The Miami-Dade County Commission on Ethics and Public Trust ruled Thursday that Pierre intentionally exploited his position as a city councilman.

He has been fined $1,000, charged an additional  $500 in investigative costs and issued a formal letter of reprimand.

Pierre was removed from office earlier this year after failing to show up to council meetings for nearly a year.
